Spiced Rum Winter Punch
Hello, lovelies! How were your holidays?!
Mine were awesome! I went to not one but TWO ugly sweater parties, and brought this punch to both (more on that in a sec)! I went home to Florida for Christmas, and got to spend time with my family. I went to my Mom’s annual cookie exchange—awesome as always! And we picked strawberries and tomatoes, again, this year, and made more preserves and salsa!
I came back for Mikey’s birthday, and we got to spend New Year’s with our friends 🙂
So let’s talk about this delicious winter cocktail that was so good I had to bring to two parties. First of all, this is not an overly sweet drink. It has natural sweetness from the apple juice/cider and hard pear cider, but no added sugar. For me, it’s plenty sweet, but I don’t like super sweet alcoholic drinks.
It also has a nice spice to it, thanks to the cinnamon and, most of all, the Chinese 5-spice. It’s a very interesting, warming flavor, and is just so excellent when paired with spiced rum, not to mention the bit of zip from the hard pear cider.
I based this off a recipe I found on this beautiful blog, but I transformed it from a single serve cocktail, to a party punch that will serve like 20+.
Spiced Rum Winter Punch
Yield: 20+ servings
Ingredients:
- 4-5 cups spiced rum
- 3 (22 oz.) bottles hard pear cider
- about 10 cups unfiltered apple juice/apple cider
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2-3 tbsp Chinese 5-spice
- zest of one large lemon, peeled into threads
- cinnamon sticks
Directions:
- Mix everything together in a large bowl or container, with plenty of ice.
- Optionally: Serve each cocktail with a cinnamon stick, or simply throw a few cinnamon sticks into the punch bowl.

The refrigerated section where the cold beer and wines are is where I found it.
