11 Recipes for Cinco de Mayo!
Get your fiesta on!
Personally, I love round-up posts because you can see a bunch of things in one place, then decide which you want to make, or just get inspired! Plus, Mexican food is like my all-time favorite, so you know I had to make a Cinco de Mayo post. (Side note: I just wrote “poast.” I think it may have something to do with the toast I’m making as I type this.)
By the way, do you know what Cinco de Mayo celebrates? A lot of people think it’s Mexico’s Independence Day, but that’t totally false. Actually, it celebrated more in America than it is in Mexico. Here in the States, we pretty much just use it as a celebration to promote Mexican heritage and pride (And umm another reason to party…am I the only one who sometimes refers to it as “Cinco de Drinko”? Please say no…).
But anyway, I picked out some of my favorite Mexican-inspired recipes on the blog. In this post you will find food and beverages because you definitely gotta have both!
Beverages:
Red Wine Sangria a la Bobby Flay
And if it happens to still be chilly where you are:
Mains:
Blackened Mahi Tacos with Corn and Watermelon Salsa
And for the vegetarians:
Sides:
Pomegranate and Mango Guacamole
Desserts:
Mexican Chocolate Cookies with Cajeta
And if after all that you’re still looking for inspiration, check out my Cinco de Mayo board on Pinterest!
I’ll be celebrating on the trés de Mayo, as I imagine most will since the 5th falls on a Monday, but also because I’m flying to Florida on Cinco de Mayo for my surgery which is on the 8th….boooo :
