Hi you guys!
I come bearing frozen beverages for this hot weather. To make it even better, there’s alcohol involved 😀
Last week, and the week before, my little sisters flew up from Florida to visit me (YAY). It was kind of a spur of the moment thing that came together in just a couple days.
One of our first stops was Pike Place Market. I may be the only Seattle resident that’s obsessed with the place… Though you have to fight your way through thick crowds of tourists who like to stop and stare right in the center of the walkway (um, move along…), it’s worth it for the crazy amazing food and fun things you can find there—especially the produce!
One thing we saw all over the market was frozen apple cider. I don’t recall them having it every year, but it’s possible I just wasn’t paying attention, haha! There had to be like 7 different stalls selling it, and nothing could have looked more appealing on a 90+ degree Summer day.
I knew I’d have to make my own, but naturally it was necessary to add booze… that’s just how I roll.
These slushies are so stupid easy to make. All you need is apple cider (or unfiltered apple juice…as I found out they are the same thing), bourbon, ice, and some bitters if you’re feeling adventurous. I like to add some bitters for a slightly more complex flavor profile, but it’s not necesarry.
And, if you want them to be super cute, you can rim the glasses with cinnamon-sugar, like I did 🙂 I used big, coarse turbinado sugar, but granulated sugar would also work, and be a lot more delicate.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what the apples are in the photos, they are the most amazing dried cinnamon apple slices from whole foods! I plopped a few in my slushie, too.
