Spicy Ginger Meyer Lemonade
This lemonade with a kick is a total dupe for all of those pricey juice cleanse drinks.
I have a love/hate relationship with the individual chilled beverage section at Whole Foods. I love how delicious they all are, but I hate hate hate how ridiculously (unreasonably!) expensive they all are. I recreated one of the most expensive (and most delicious!) juices I ever accidentally purchased with my Cinnamon-Vanilla Cashew Milk. Now, I’ve recreated a slightly less expensive one that I still refuse to pay retail for.
Like the other juice I made, this is a dupe of a BluePrint Cleanse juice. Their stuff is so good, but who on earth wants to pay between $7 and $15 for a single-serve JUICE?! Not me. This Spicy Meyer Lemonade is actually better than their version, I think, because I used slightly sweeter Meyer lemons, and added in some fresh ginger to make it a bit more interesting. If you don’t love the flavor of ginger, feel free to leave it out, as it is quite strong.
It’s sooooo refreshing! And much more interesting than regular lemonade. It’s best super chilled so be sure to serve it over lots of ice.
I know this is supposed to be a very healthy juice cleanse drink, but I can’t help but think that it would be awesome with a little tequila š
Um and yes, I just gave you a chilled lemonade recipe in the dead of Winter. And yes, I spent all day yesterday freezing my butt off drinking it…worth it!
Ingredients
- 2 Meyer lemons + a few slices for garnish
- 1/2 ounce (1-inch piece) of fresh ginger, peeled (I keep my fresh ginger in the freezer. It keeps forever and you can just pull it out and break off pieces or grate it)
- 1/16 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup agave
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Peel the skin off your lemons. Divide them into segments and remove any seeds (you should be able to feel them and then just pop them out).
- Place the segments in your blender, along with the remainder of ingredients. (If you don't have a high-powered blender like a Vitamix, It may be better to grate your ginger first as it will prevent chunks.)
- Blend on high until completely smooth.
- Serve over lots of ice!
