Happy Monday! I’m sharing my new favorite drink with you!
You may have seen this drink, in some version or another, posted on my Instagram a couple times in the past few weeks. I first made these margaritas for a Cinco de Mayo celebration, and they were so tasty and easy that I knew I’d be making them again.
I offered to make them for some family and friends this weekend, here and Florida, and I decided to give them a little Floridian flair using key limes instead of regular limes. If you can get past squeezing a bajillion little limes (or are smart enough to just buy key lime juice already pressed), it’s a really fun a tasty version!
I love these because they totally take advantage of all of the amazingly fresh strawberries that are filling the grocery stores, right now. I actually bought my strawberries in the back of a pickup truck out front of a restaurant where my mom and sister and I stopped for lunch. We got 2 pounds for $6! Not to mention the literal flat of the most amazing cherry tomatoes we got for just $10! Hooray for random produce finds!
The green salt/sugar mixture that I used to rim my glasses is something that I picked up at a grocery store back in Seattle. It’s salty-sweet and flavored with lime, so I think it work’s perfectly. Of course, you could easily make your own by mixing some margarita salt with a bit of sugar and lime zest, but I did manage to find the one I bought, on Amazon.
I’ve made these with silver tequila and with gold tequila, with triple sec and with Crown Royale…both ways were delicious, and you can just go with whatever you have on-hand.
