Too Easy: Iced Maple Macchiato
So, I’m adding a new little portion to the blog!
It’s called “Too Easy,” and it’s all about recipes that are seriously stupid simple. It’s recipes that probably don’t actually need a recipe, but it’s stuff so yummy that I just *had* to share it with you guys.
There’s absolutely been stuff like this on the blog before. These Spiked Watermelon Milkshakes are a perfect example. I was a little embarrassed to post that, because it seemed so…well easy, but yo know what? We all need stupid simple recipes, if for nothing else than new flavor combo ideas! Right?
Anyway, we’re kicking off this new blog section with a coffee beverage! There are only three ingredients, and you could definitely figure this one out of your own, but maybe you never thought of pairing maple syrup with coffee?
The iced caramel macchiato was a go-to drink at Starbuck’s for me for a looooong time. I just love how macchiatos look with the separation of milk and espresso (and how the espresso starts to kinda fall down—super cool-looking!), and I love the globs of caramel you would get at the bottom.
This is a take on that, only I’ve replaced the caramel with pure maple syrup, and let me tell you, I had no idea maple would be so effing tasty in coffee.
If you don’t have an espresso maker, you could always use some really strong coffee in this. Annnnnd any milk will work (obviously).
This is actually totally delicious warm as well, I just love drinking iced coffee in the afternoon. As I mentioned on Instagram, this is totally my new 4pm pick-me-up!
(And yes, I’m still obsessed with these adorable jars. How could I not be?!)
Iced Maple Macchiato
Yield: 1 beverage
Ingredients:
- lots of ice
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup (It has to be the real deal!)
- milk of choice
- 1 shot of strong espresso, or very strong coffee
Directions:
- Fill your glass with ice. Add in the maple syrup, then fill the glass 3/4 of the way with the milk. Pour the shot of espresso over the top.
- If you want, stir it all up, or drink as is! Remark how this is too easy and you should have already thought of this without my help š
